A recipe for those, like me, that HATE nuts but desire to be part of mainstream hiking America that happily munches trail mix. I make no claim that this recipe will make you a well nourished hiker but hopefully it will make you a happy one at snack time.
Mix together in equal parts these ingredients in a big plastic bag. If you let the ingredients sit together for a couple hours the flavors start to intermingle nicely.
Kate's NO NUTS trail mix:
Gummy Bears
Sunflower seeds (salted)
Banana chips (sweetened or not, your choice)
Plain M&Ms
Dried cranberries
Raisins
Diced dried mango
Be adventurous and add your own favorite ingredients or vary the amounts of each to create your own favorite mix.

Note about Kate's Special Mix: While I like the combination of sweet and salty - it sounds like a sort of heavily mushy mixture - what about some pretzel sticks or chex cereal? Also, have you tried dried pineapple? I am a big fan.
Hmmm...chex cereal sounds like a great addition. I shall try it!
